By detecting problems in the joints, muscle, ligaments and nerves Osteopaths use their hands to adjust or manipulate the body so that it can work in a balanced and efficient way (like a well tuned car).

The Genaral Osteopathic Council(GoSC) are responsible in law for the registering and monitoring of all Osteopaths. It is illegal to use the title Osteopath and not be Gosc registerd as from 1998!

Ingrown nails are painful. They can be treated regularly with routine treatment but often it is cost effective for the patient to have the nail or part of the nail permanently removed under a local anaesthetic if it gets infected regularly or is painful during treatment.
This procedure is carried out at the surgery and will involve a simple procedure known as a Partial or Total Nail Avulsion where the offending nail is removed and a chemical applied to the root to stop it re-growing. It normally takes around 45 minutes for it to be done and you will need to return after 3 days for a redressing. After this time you will be shown how to dress the toe yourself. Return to work is normally 2-3 days. Full healing is normally 2-6 weeks.

We use Western Acupuncture techniques which have many of the same insertion points as Chinese acupuncture. Our acupuncture is based on scientific medical diagnosis where as the Chinese use a spiritual and philosophical system.
Acupuncture needles are inserted into specific trigger points that are commonly associated with acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Dry needle acupuncture is suitable for sports injury, arthritis,strains, aches, joints, muscles ,headache arthritis etc. The insertion of ultra fine single use acupuncture needles is virtually painless.
Health professionals such as doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and podiatrists, are only allowed to become a Member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
